 I've only done with one of the many girlfriends I've had over the years, pretty much after the first time we had sex. In that girlfriend's case, it really helped with her cramps. and believe me she was a wild one, dug her nails into my back and literally filled my back with scratches...

 I know it can get messy, but I'm not squeamish about menstrual blood and I've often agreed just to put a towel down and fuck when my partner is bleeding. I really take my cue from the woman I'm with. Some get very self-conscious, while others seem to be immune to any revulsion or turn-off.
