My was scheduled to have back surgery on the 29th. It has been scheduled for over a month. He got a call from the Doctor today saying that the insurance company has denied the surgery. They say it is experimental. I'm really not sure if it is or not. But it was going to be done in one, if not best, places in the country. At Barrow Neurologic Institute at St Joseph's Hospital.
My of course called his case worker with the insurance company, but because of the holiday she won't be back to work until Monday. Which of course will be to late.
The Doctor is going to call the insurance company himself to try to convince them. I really doubt if it will work but I'm praying it will. They haven't cancelled it yet but doesn't look good. He was supposed to have his blood work and EKG done tomorrow, plus have a back brace molded for him. That of course has been cancelled. He will still have time to get it done if it is approved tomorrow.
If it does get cancelled and approved later we don't know how long he will have to wait, because he also has to have a vascular surgeon during the operation and getting the schedules lined up is the hard part.
I just hope they figure it out soon because he has been in a lot of pain for way to long.
He actually is taking it pretty well.

He also said that when the guy called and he thought it was his grandson that his voice did sound different but he said he broke his nose in the accident so he didn't think anything was wrong.
So that made my day and my week.
