As an American, I just don't get the meaning of the 4th of July anymore. I don't understand why we must sing Kimigayo in school here. Patriotism is a dangerous thing.

Instead, if we all tried to have confidence in the countries where we live and are from, and if we all just reached out to the person sitting across from us, we'd be in a better world. We'd make more friends, make more love and would enjoy our time on this planet a bit more.

When making love, when holding someone, when lying in bed with the perfect partner, we don't care about which country is great or strong. We care about the feel of our partner's skin. We care about the wonderful fragrance of the person next to us. We care about the passion in their eyes and the look of satisfaction after passionate sex.

Isn't that more important than a silly flag?

Well, summer is here. I decided to join Passion (again) on a nice, lazy Sunday afternoon here in Tokyo. What will my summer be like? What will YOUR summer be like? We'll have to try to stay cool since the buzz-word for the summer is setsu-den.
